About Us

The Craft House is a space created by Hannah Emerson (owner of Shaggies Amsterdam). Hannah is an international woman living in Amsterdam and is a professional artist who wants to share their love of crafts with the world. Throughout the year she opens her shop/atelier to host a wide varirty of creative workshops. Hannah works with numerous mediums - embroidery, crochet, macrame, weaving, mosaic, punch needle, and more. ​

 

Being international herself, Hannah found it difficult to navigate her new home when she first arrived in Amsterdam. She wanted to try out different crafts by participating in creative workshops as a way to meet new people and hopefully make friends. Finding a place that offered both a wide varity of workshops AND offered a cozy, English-speaking setting was something that she found was missing in Amsterdam. To take matters into her own hands, she opened The Craft House, which encompases everything she wished she had in a space when she first arrived in Amsterdam: crafts, community, learning, and sharing amongst other makers.​

 

Hannah strives to create a warm, inviting space where everyone feels welcome - from people who are brand new to crafts and are interested in finding their next hobby or passion project, to internationals who may not speak Dutch yet and are looking to find their tribe. The classes will be held in English so that they are accessible to both internationals and Dutch alike.​ Everyone is welcome at The Craft House!

 

Hannah wants to share knowledge, inspire, and collaborate. She hopes that by providing the sessions, individuals can meet, network, share crafty tips & tricks, and ultimately, gain great friendships within the creative community.
